Welcome to the Website of The Amalgamated Transit Union Local 726 of Staten Island, New York. Since 1916 this Local has represented the Operators, Mechanics and other titles of the various bus companies that through the years operated local bus service here on Staten Island. We now represent 2000 employees and retirees of the New York City Transit Authority.
We currently operate 22 local routes here on Staten Island, 2 of which provide service into the borough of Brooklyn and one that provides service into New Jersey. We also operate 22 Express routes between Staten Island and Manhattan. The Local operates a fleet of approximately 800 buses based in two depots, Castleton and Yukon. A third depot is currently under construction.
